I had a vague idea that the tar sands oil project in Alberta was absurd but part of me didn’t want to know how inconceivable it is. The waste involved in extracting oil from the ground is overwhelming. Given the scale of the disaster, I find it difficult to comprehend how our government has comitted to increasing production five fold to meet America’s demand when we can’t even meet our own.
